Born in Kumbo, located in the Northwest Region of Cameroon, Rick Silver is currently based in Douala, Cameroon. His nickname “DaStarLion” comes from the motivation his father gave him when he was young, calling Rick, “Richard the Lion Heart,” and telling him he was destined for greatness. Coming from the slums and one of the poorest parts of his country, he’s been through harsh storms of life, experiencing trials and tribulations of all sorts along the way. He grew up listening to music, impacted by the work of artists like Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, Wu-Tang Clan, DMX, and J Cole. Hip-hop became a solution to his struggle, serving as an outlet for innermost traumas. Music allowed him to process sad emotions, battle depression, and overcome an inferiority complex.

Rick Silver DaStarLion started his own musical journey in 2014, creating for over 8 years now, shifting to making it a professional focus in 2020. Self-taught, his early work began with freestyling and composing rhymes. Songwriting became the only way for Rick Silver to express himself to the fullest. For that reason, he goes deep on every track, writing each as if it were the last in his story. Since then, he has recorded many singles, and dropped his first official single with the official music video in 2020, “Came with Nothing.” Rick Silver directs and edits his own videos, also handling the photography himself. This paved his way into the industry and pumped fans up for two singles and collaborations, which followed quickly after. Rick Silver has worked with a variety of artists like Handy Braxton, Askia, Lill Humble, Eazy Priest, Helmine, Kikoh, Vianney Bee, Rex Rezult, Young Cato, and Harri Berry. In July of 2021, he dropped his first album to all major streaming platforms, a 23-track project titled, BrainWave. Consistently working on new music, Rick Silver has fresh singles, collabs, and music videos on the way for fans to look out for.
